Mrs. Meusch

We learn by doing in our classroom.  Class discussions, reflective writing, and inquiry research help students realize that their “new” ideas are also the themes authors explore through characters in literature.  For it is through literature that students can expand their understanding of people and events, in turn giving them an understanding of what they value, celebrate who they are, and consider who they might become and what they might achieve.

Helping students discover ideas through literature and coaching them as they learn to express those ideas in writing is exciting.  That is why I have been a classroom English teacher for almost twenty years, for when adolescent energy is successfully channeled into learning, my job is golden.

I received my B.A. in English from Michigan State University and my Master of Education in curriculum and instruction, with an emphasis in literacy, from the University of Missouri.  I taught English at Rolla High School for four years, but through the grace of God found my way to Saint Patrick.  I have been teaching seventh and eighth graders everything I know about writing and reading well since August of 1998 and can’t imagine being anywhere else.

Our upper-grade students at Saint Patrick continue to surprise me with their insight, creativity, and literary growth in a typical school year.  I am honored and proud to be a faculty member of Saint Patrick School.
